Microcomputer and its different elements
Figure: Block diagram of micro computer
Microprocessor:
It is CPU which consists of arithmetic and logical unit (ALU), registers and control unit.
Memory:
Memory is used store user and systems data.
Input/output devices:
Input and output devices are also called as input and output peripherals. Input and output devices are used to give the input to system and get the output accordingly.
Bus:
Bus is the group of wire/conductor which is used to convey information and signals from one place to another place. These buses are also used to communicate between CPU and different I/O devices. There are 3 types of buses.
a) Address bus: address bus is unidirectional bus which is used to transmit address signals generated by microprocessor to memory and I/O ports. Address buses helps to transfer memory addresses of data and I/O devices
b) Data bus: data bus is bidirectional bus which is used to transmit data among the different components
c) Control bus: control bus is unidirectional bus which is used to transmit or receive timing and control signal like read, write, interrupt etc.
